Should we colonize space (moon, mars, asteroids, whatever)? Some argue no on philosophical grounds, that we should fix the problems on Earth before trying to extend humanity into space. As a thought experiment, suppose you are presented with a button that will immediately cause all of human civilization to cease to exist. No destruction or suffering, just oblivion. Would you press that button? If you choose not to then you are also choosing to extend the problems of humanity, just forward into time.
